Kaz is the embodiment of creativity, personal identity, and self-expression. Based in Seoul, the Portuguese, Peruvian, and English creator has built a vibrant world where fashion, music, and storytelling naturally
intertwine. As a model, DJ, and content creator, she embraces every passion with curiosity and authenticity.

INTRODUCTION

For people discovering you for the first time, who is Kaz? When people see your content what is the first thing they notice?

Helloo I’m Kaz! I’m Portuguese, Peruvian & English from London and now living in Seoul. I’m currently modelling and DJing here so my content follows this and is based around the very busy and spontaneous lifestyle that I’ve chosen for myself out here lol. I think on Instagram you might first notice my more visually pleasing editing style in both my mini vlogs + feed posts, and on YouTube a much more realistic and less nonchalant (but super fun) side of moving away from home and starting a very new life.

How would you describe yourself in only 3 words?

Oh no I never know what to say for this question haha… maybe driven, creative, and energetic.

Fashion feels like such a big part of your identity online. When did style first become a form a self-expression?

Lowkey since I was like 12 back in the emo Tumblr era lol. This is when I became so interested in aesthetics, so 2014 will always have a place in my heart. Whether the fashion was actually good is a different question but we have to embrace the cringe! Current & future fashion trends are and will continue to be inspired by past eras that were deemed ugly at the time but are now “nostalgic and swag”—stick to what YOU like because eventually everyone else will like it too ;)

STYLE IDENTITY

You manage to keep your aesthetic very consistent while still making every post feel fresh. What helps you maintain that creative identity?

Unfortunately my attention span is quite short and I get bored pretty easily haha so I need to create what I myself enjoy watching. If you want to attract an audience that relates to you and has your same humour/interests, you should create content that you would watch—not what’s trending or what’s in an e-book that another influencer sold to you online. I always rewatch my videos from a different person’s POV before I
upload them to decide what is necessary to keep in vs. cut out.

Your content brings so much color and fun into
people’s feeds. Why is that energy important to you?

We need more whimsy! Everyone redownload Retrica and Picsart, we gotta have fun online again :’) It’s important to me that people stop thinking there’s rules on what’s “acceptable” to post so that we can all have a little bit more silliness amidst the doomscrolling and you can actually enjoy posting rather than seeing it as a chore to get over with.

If your current era had a color palette, what colors would represent it?

Light pink, pale yellow & mint green/blue. I’m really trying to add more colour to my wardrobe right now so this is based off of my recent clothing purchases :D

When creating content, are there any fashion eras, artists, or subcultures that inspire you?

I honestly can’t name specific people or eras because I am so easily moulded and inspired by my surroundings; I am a product of everything I have ever consumed haha. One new movie watched at the cinema and my thought process changes for the rest of the month. Start taking inspiration from every little bus ride, Pinterest scroll, grocery shop, music playlist and you will have endless ideas. Recently I love a y2k x y3k/retro futurism vibe though.

CREATIVE ENERGY

You seem to balance so many creative worlds at once—fashion, DJing, content, YouTube, visuals. What do you enjoy most about it?

Although it can be overwhelming, I really do love being busy. I’ve always had so many interests and thought “wow maybe in another life I’m a new york fashion designer, events videographer, LA influencer, small cafe owner and DJ touring asia etc” until I realized—wait, why not in this life? Switching to what some people might think is an insane mindset, has let me continue enjoying little bits of each of my hobbies vs. dedicating all my time to one and potentially falling out of love with it because it became too much of a job. Be delusional and do what you want in THIS life :)

Are there any habits, or small details that help you balance all your creative work?

Honestly no, I am at least a little stressed all the time LOL. I would love to stick to a schedule where I dedicate each day of the week to work on a different hobby/job; however, I often overwork myself and procrastinate like crazy. So if this sounds like you, then don’t worry you aren’t the only one, we’re in this together twin... I am open to suggestions.

What does your creative process usually look like when putting together content? Do you plan your content carefully, or are you more spontaneous?

I stopped planning content a while ago and although this has made my posting much more inconsistent, I enjoy it so much more. Since my life had become more chaotic, I no longer had time or reason to “come up” with what to film—this is why I started documenting what I already do. Mostly for myself actually, I was running out of storage but didn’t want to delete all these fun memories. So I started creating these compilations of my funniest moments and I guess everyone else found them funny too, so yay. So if you’re struggling to come up with new ideas maybe you should try documenting what you already do.

What’s something people don’t realize about the amount of work that goes into your content?

This might be an original experience but because I don’t film stuff for my vlogs, I don’t have a set amount of clips to put into an editing software haha. This is why I still edit on my phone, yikes... Phone editing apps + 130 minutes of footage + 2 million sound effects and layovers do NOT work well together, I’ll tell you that. My phone is on the brink of explosion every single time I start editing a new video so this is why it takes me weeks/months to upload oops sorry guys...

GROWTH AND MOMENTUM

Looking back, what have been some of the most exciting moments in your content journey?

After 8 years of being asked when I’ll make a channel, actually starting my youtube and people enjoying my videos is up there for me. I love being nonchalant and showing genuine traveling + living abroad without any content planning behind it—but mostly I love putting together these videos for me and my friends to look back on. We always forget these little moments even happened so this is why I actually love editing and posting all my vlogs months later :)

Is there a dream project, collaboration, or creative direction you hope to step into next?

As i dedicate more of my time to music and fashion design there’s of course so many collaborations that come to mind but more importantly, I’ve had a bunch of projects planned and sitting in my files for ages so whenever I see one of these ideas come to life in front of me I’ll be so much more inspired to continue down this path entering these industries. Social media wise though, when I get that Gentle Monster PR i can live happily…

What advice would you give to creators who are still trying to find their own identity online?

It’s going to take you about 5 aesthetic changes, 4 unfinished/flopped series ideas, and 10 rotating editing styles copied from other creators until you reach your own identity, so don’t worry—you’ll get there. You just need to stop looking at what others are doing. If you have an idea and you can’t find anyone online doing it, it’s not that no one cares about it, it’s because no one’s done it yet. So go and be the first one.
